THE STORY:
Sly has an unusual talent for locating exactly what somebody needs, usually before they’ve finished explaining why they need it. Nobody remembers hiring him. Nobody knows precisely where he keeps his office. Somehow, he has keysWhile the rest of the barnyard is running in circles, he’s usually leaning against a fence post with his shades lowered just enough to suggest he already knows how this ends.
He is shady, certainly. A villain? Absolutely not. Sly quietly looks after his people, keeps confidences, remembers favors, and has a remarkable ability to make problems disappear without anybody needing to know the details.
Henrietta remains convinced he has designs on her chickens. Sly finds the accusation deeply insulting. Belle is one of the very few people who can make the shades come all the way off. She sees straight through the smooth talk, the little black book, and the carefully unanswered questions. Sly seems perfectly content to let her.
Ask him where something came from and you probably won’t get an answer. Ask whether he can find another one? He’ll give you that crooked smile. “I know a guy.”
